During the past 25 years, mountain bike racing has become one of the fastest growing sports in the country. Mountainous Marin has certainly been at the forefront of the movement. But the county that started it all has never been able to host the biggest race in the most-popular league for local high school riders.
That all changes 6th May. More than 500 riders are expected to compete in the NorCal High School Cycling League's championship event at Stafford Lake Park in Novato that day and more than 1,000 spectators will be there from all over Northern California to cheer them on.
